Hump Day Health Hack with @amysfitnessandnutrition
WHAT’S HIDING IN YOUR YOGHURT?
The yoghurt isle in the supermarket is absolutely enormous. And for good reason. As many of you will know eating yoghurt has a plethora of health benefits. That being said, not all pots of the creamy goodness are created equal. From naturally made Greek Yoghurt to pots of sugar with ‘healthy’ plant-based yoghurt health claims, it’s important to know what your yoghurt contains and what it means for your health.
GREEK YOGHURT
Greek yoghurt differs from other yoghurts because it goes through a straining process to remove lactose, a natural sugar found in milk. For this reason, Greek yoghurt is very high in protein and very low in sugar. It is also incredibly good for the gut. The link between the gut and brain also suggests having a well-balanced gut bacteria can even improve our moods.
WHAT TO LOOK OUT FOR
Despite the health benefits of yoghurt the majority of supermarket yoghurt out there contains more sugar than anything else. Despite all the goodness in yoghurt you’re unlikely to achieve your health goals if you are eating a load of healthy protein and good probiotics if you’re piling (on average) 4 teaspoons of sugar on top. Check out the list below for the best and worst of our yoghurt isle.
