Reflect, Recap & Reset Your Goals

As the year comes to a close, as always it’s time to reflect on the year that was, hopefully with pride and gratitude. Consider the opportunities you took and your achievements throughout the 2025 year. Take what you learned from these experiences to use them to help sketch out your plan for 2026.

Set Realistic, Achievable Goals

  • It’s great to have grand goals, but overly ambitious goals can lead to frustration and burn-out - especially if you don’t know what your body or mind is capable of yet. Ensure your goals are challenging, but broken down into achievable, measurable chunks. i.e. 5km run before a half marathon sign up. 12 hour fast completed before a 3 day fasting attempt. Learn the technique of a lift before loading up that bar.

Be Specific and Measurable

  • Vague airy fairy goals can be of no benefit “I’m going to get in shape” oh, well round is still a shape. They let you off the hook and hold no motivation or accountability. Instead, set measurable specific goals, giving yourself a clear target and timeline, track your progress in relation to that goal. This will bring your training into focus. This, in turn allows yourself (or one of our Coaches) to build better training plan around your goals. Which brings me to my next point.

Seek Support

  • Knowing what you know and knowing what you don’t is powerful. Especially if you can fill the gaps in your knowledge. Investing in a Coach to work around your specific goals will accelerate progress and adherence to the program.

  • Share your goals with friends and family to create accountability. When you see them next you will have a stern, but fare support system and this can do wonders for adherence.

  • Find a training partner or like-minded group which aligns with your training goals. This will help you to stay engaged and inspired. Many hands make the load lighter!

Track your Progress

  • Find ways to measure small improvements and celebrate. Having a fitness bench mark to test yourself against for strength or endurance allows you to check in weekly or monthly. These physiological improvements are worth celebrating, even if the mirror or scales have not changed. Set up a reward system for reaching milestones along the way. A little celebration and high five to yourself for staying on track can do wonders for the motivation.

Be Flexible

  • Life can be unpredictable and it’s essential to remain flexible with your goals. If you encounter obstacles, don’t be afraid to adjust the plan short term. Stay committed to your overall objectives, just adapt the path to get there.

Stay Positive

  • Attitude is everything. Maintain a positive mind set. Fitness, health and rehab journeys can be challenging but focusing on the benefits one day at a time will help you stay consistent and focused. Benefits like increased energy, improved mood (mental health), a willingness to push yourself and improved overall health are all worth exercising for. Then when your specific goals are added and achieved it will all be worth it. Enjoy the process as much as the outcomes and you will feel successful every step of the way.

Start now and you will be unrecognisable in 6 months!

Merry Christmas, enjoy your festive season and keep one eye on your health and well being plan for 2026 and as always, the team and I are here to help any way we can.

Yours in good health.

Shane
